Pray Assist (the "Platform") places the utmost importance on your privacy and the security of your personal data in the prayer, Quran and Islamic learning services we provide through our mobile application.

1. Data Responsibility

Information in your user profile — such as your city, your madhhab and calculation method, and your daily worship goals — is used to give you accurate prayer times and to keep your worship record in sync across your own devices. In line with our privacy principles, your worship record, your questions to the AI guide and your questions to scholars are never sold or shared with third parties or advertisers.

2. Purposes of Processing and Legal Basis

We process your personal data only for the purposes listed below, and each purpose rests on the legal basis stated next to it:

Providing the service: calculating prayer times and the qibla direction, keeping your worship record, delivering lessons and answers from the AI guide — performance of the contract between you and us.
Safety and moderation: verifying teachers and scholars, detecting abuse and inappropriate content — our legitimate interest in keeping the community safe.
Legal obligations: responding to lawful requests from authorised public authorities and meeting our bookkeeping duties — compliance with a legal obligation.
Marketing and personalisation: optional notifications and personalised advertising — your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

3. Device Permissions

While using the app, the following permissions are required on your device:

Camera and Gallery: Used so you can upload a profile photo or scan an ingredient label in the halal checker.
Microphone: Required so you can practice recitation and send voice messages to a teacher.
Location: Used to calculate prayer times and the qibla direction for where you are, and to list mosques near you.
Notifications: Used for prayer time reminders, holy day reminders, and answers from scholars and teachers.

Every permission is optional and is requested only at the moment the related feature is first used. You may withdraw any of them later from your device settings; the rest of the app keeps working without them.

4. Categories of Data We Collect

Depending on how you use the app, we process the following categories of personal data:

Account data: email address, phone number, date of birth, name, bio, and profile photo.
Location data: approximate latitude/longitude and derived city/country, used to calculate prayer times and the qibla direction and to find mosques near you.
Device data: a hashed device identifier, IP address, application version, and push-notification token.
Usage data: in-app activity events, crash reports, and session information, used to keep the service stable and to improve it.

Your worship record, your questions to the AI guide and your conversations with teachers are never sold or shared with third parties or advertisers.

5. Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. It is shared only in the following cases, and only to the extent each case requires: with service providers acting on our written instructions (hosting, push-notification delivery, crash reporting, payment processing, and the AI providers listed in our AI Disclosure Notice); with the app stores that handle your subscription; and with public authorities legally entitled to request it. Advertisers never receive your worship record, your questions to the AI guide, or your conversations with teachers.

6. International Transfers

Some of our service providers operate outside your country. Where personal data is transferred abroad, the transfer relies on an adequacy decision, on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), or on your explicit consent, and the data is encrypted while in transit.

7. Security Measures

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to authorised personnel, protected by multi-factor authentication, and logged. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes and cannot be read by us. Should a personal data breach occur, we notify the competent authority and, where required, the affected users without undue delay.

8. Account Deletion and Data Retention

You can deactivate your profile or delete your account entirely at any time from the in-app settings menu. Both self-service account deletion and data deletion are available inside the application. The personal data of deleted accounts is permanently removed from our systems.

Records we are legally obliged to keep, such as invoicing data, are retained for the statutory period after account deletion and are erased once that period ends.

9. Children's Privacy

Pray Assist is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, the account is closed and its data erased. Where a parent or guardian allows a minor to use the app, that parent or guardian is responsible for supervising the use.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to learn whether your personal data is processed, to request access to it, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request its erasure, to object to processing, to request restriction, to receive your data in a portable format, and to withdraw any consent you have given. To exercise these rights, write to [e-mail] ; we answer within one month at the latest. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We do not show ads on our website (prayassist.com); ads appear inside the Pray Assist app after you sign in, served by Google AdMob on the free tier, and a Plus, Gold or Premium subscription switches them off. The Google AdSense script does run on our web pages, so Google advertising cookies may be set there. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and mobile advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites or apps. Advertisers never receive your worship record, your questions to the AI guide or your contact details: ad selection relies on the cookie and identifier data collected by Google, not on the content of your questions. On the web, advertising cookies are set only after you accept the "Marketing" category in our cookie banner; on iOS you may additionally decline app tracking. 12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service develops or the law changes. The current version is always published on this page, and material changes are announced inside the app before they take effect. The date of the latest revision is shown at the bottom of this page.
