What is the qibla?
The qibla is the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca that Muslims face while praying, and it is calculated as the shortest path along the surface of the earth from wherever you happen to be standing.
A direction, not a place
The qibla is the line from where you are to the Kaaba in Mecca. Because the earth is a sphere, that line is the shortest great-circle path, which is why the bearing can feel surprising in far northern countries.
Finding it
Pray Assist gives you two views: a compass that turns as you turn, and a map that draws the line from your position to Mecca so you can check it against a street or a building.
If the compass wanders
Metal, magnets and car dashboards pull a phone compass off. Calibrate with the figure-eight motion, step away from the metal, and use the map view as a second opinion.
Keep your prayers on time
