The qibla bearing is calculated exactly for your coordinates, but what you see depends on the phone's magnetometer, so calibrating and confirming against the map view are what make it reliable.
Two separate things
The bearing — the true direction from your position to Mecca — is a calculation and is exact. The needle is hardware, and hardware drifts near metal and electronics.
Calibrate
A slow figure-eight motion settles the needle. The app prompts when it detects interference.
Confirm on the map
The map view draws the line from where you are to Mecca. Matching it to a wall or a street removes any doubt.
