What do I do if the qibla compass does not work?
If the qibla compass misbehaves, move away from metal and electronics, calibrate with a figure-eight motion, and fall back on the map view, which shows the direction without using the compass at all.
Usually the surroundings
Laptops, speakers, car dashboards, metal tables and magnetic phone mounts all pull a compass off. Step away and the needle settles.
Calibrate
Move the phone in a slow figure-eight two or three times.
The map does not need a compass
The map view draws the line from your position to Mecca using location only. On a device with a failing magnetometer this is the reliable option.
